On April 25, the Secretary of the RA NA With Honor Faction Tigran Abrahamyan, the deputies of Armenia Faction Artur Khachatryan and Kristine Vardanyan received the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia in the European Parliament, the Cypriot deputy, the Member of the Political Group of the European People’s Party (EPP) Loucas Fourlas and the delegation led by him.

Issues on the security of Armenia and the situation in Nagorno Karabakh were discussed.

Speaking about the situation created in the Artsakh Republic, the deputy of Armenia Faction Artur Khachatryan noted that Azerbaijan continues its genocidal policy, seeking to depopulate Artsakh. The MP noted that without fair solution of the Artsakh conflict it is not possible to establish long-term peace. He also added that Armenia expects practical steps from the European Parliament, in order the organization would impose pressure on the EU executive bodies, in order to make Azerbaijan to fulfill the resolution of the International Court of Justice.

The Secretary of With Honor Faction Tigran Abrahamyan drew the guests’ attention to the blockade of Artsakh. According to the MP, it is a political problem, because of which humanitarian deep crisis occurred. The parliamentarian also informed that Azerbaijan wishes to carry out ethnic cleansing in Artsakh.

The Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia in the European Parliament Loucas Fourlas informed that during his visit he had been to Syunik Marz/Region, recorded the Azerbaijani advancements. In that context the Member of the European Parliament assured his Armenian colleagues that he would prepare a report on the situation created in the Republic of Armenia and its problems and submit to the European Parliament and to the European Commission.
