Parliamentary Assistance Partners’ Annual Coordination Meeting Held

The international effective cooperation always had its tangible outcomes. We can only affirm with satisfaction and joy that in the last years that cooperation enlarged its frameworks: the NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Davit Arakelyan said during the Parliamentary Assistance Partners’ Annual Coordination Meeting on April 25.

According to Davit Arakelyan, the year 2022 has been rather effective in terms of cooperation with partners, as numerous programmes have been implemented, projects have come to life, which have essential impact on the effective activity of the parliament.

The Chief of Staff informed that beginning from this meeting it is designed to make reports on the performances of projects being implemented with the international partners with a new format – the NA Staff and the international partners will jointly present the works done within the frameworks of those programmes.

The NA Deputy Chief of Staff Heghine Khachikyan noted that once every half year the NA Staff will organize meetings with international partners, the joint works done with the international partners will be presented and the programmes for implementation of future goals will be discussed.

The works done during the year 2022 were presented by the NA Staff and international partners, which were aimed at strengthening the capacities of the NA Staff, the projects, which were drafted as a result of joint of work with the Staff and several partners. In particular, the digital shorthand programme, which was drafted and implemented by the joint efforts of the EU Twinning Project and the UNDP Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia (MAP) Project.

Within the framework of the UNDP Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia Project aimed at developing the capacities of the NA Staff in 2022, creation of electronic archive, organizing summer school, as well as support of the Expertise and Analytical Department was carried out, the strategy directed to the rise of the NA role was jointly revised with the NA Staff, the revision process of the new website of the parliament, the technical and digital equipment of the parliament activity was provided. Digital shorthand system of the NA sittings was created. The citizens’ reception hall was repaired and re-equipped.

In 2022, the GIZ international partner carried out support of the network activity of the Secretaries General of parliaments of the Eastern Partnership countries, educational and working visits to the Bundestag of Germany, as well as exchange of experience between the employees of the parliaments of the Eastern Partnership countries.

In 2022, within the framework of the EU Twinning Project workshops, projects of exchange of experience were implemented.

According to the Component 1 Counterpart Leader of the Project Marta Sandoyan, discussions aimed at the CEPA effective use, works directed to strengthening capacities and knowledge were carried out.

The Representative of the International Republican Institute (IRI) touched upon the organization of the Communication School, the revision of the social media strategy and the implementation of thematic inquiries.

The Representative of the National Democratic Institute spoke about the efficiency of the two-week internship programme jointly implemented with the Parliamentary Centre (Canada). He also emphasized the implementation of the programme through 27 interns in the NA Staff departments. The drafting of the Corporate Strategic Programme for 2022-2026 by the support of the Parliamentary Centre (Canada), the support of the Operational Plan implementation of 2022, the introduction of Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Internship, the organization of the visit of the National Assembly delegation to the Parliament of Canada and a number of other programmes were carried out.

At the end of the meeting, the guests expressed hope that the cooperation will be of continuous character.
