During the National Assembly-Government Q&A session, the deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Tadevos Avetisyan inquired about unblocking of the region, noting that this objective is fixed in the Government programme for 2021-2026. “What price do we pay, what do we give in to develop?” the deputy asked, referring to the fact that recently Turkey has closed its airspace for Armenian airlines to third countries, for which that country considered the opening of the monument to the heroes of the Nemesis operation as a basis. The deputy even considered the installation of such a monument late.
In response, the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan suggested the MP being in a mode of thinking together regarding such issues. “For example, I ask a question: if there was no such monument in Armenia, what would happen, what damage would be, and what would we gain?” the Prime Minister mentioned, clarifying the circumstances of installing the monument. “That monument was installed for a simple reason. When that topic went from table to table, from December 2020 to April 2021, everyone thought that if we do not agree, everyone will say that you are a traitor,” the Prime Minister noted, saying that national and state interests are being betrayed in this way.
