Alen Simonyan meets with the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament in Ankara: Armenia and Serbia will continuously develop the cooperation on parliamentary platforms

On May 4, within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) the RA NA President Alen Simonyan met with the Serbian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Orlić.

Alen Simonyan expressed his condolences to his colleague for the tragic incident that caused death of numerous young lives in Belgrade the day before.

The sides recorded the warm friendly relations between Armenia and Serbia, highlighting the continuous and effective development of bilateral cooperation in all spheres.

The RA NA President underscored the necessity of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting the active dialogue between the legislative bodies and the role of the friendship groups.

The colleagues expressed satisfaction for the collaboration in the frames of the international organizations. “I believe that the effective cooperation of our delegations on such platforms will let all of us to find solutions in hard issues for us,” Alen Simonyan noted.

The Serbian colleague expressed his gratitude for the positive reactions received until now from Armenia and maintaining substantive partnership relations that was manifested in bilateral, as well as multilateral formats.

The parties discussed details on security issues of the region. The RA NA President presented the continuous bellicose rhetoric and maximalist position of the Azerbaijani authorities, as well as continuing aggressive actions against the sovereignty of Armenia and the Armenians living in Nagorno Karabakh. Alen Simonyan introduced the chronology of the post-war situation, stressing that in the context of the very unstable situation in the region the role of the EU Civilian Observation Mission is important.

Alen Simonyan reaffirmed the approaches of Armenia on Kosovo status.

The Serbian colleague noted that peace is an important value for their country, and the energy spent and the efforts made for preserving peace have become a daily resolution. He noted that the pacifism is the main precondition, which characterizes Armenia and Serbia, on basis of which we should carry on the cooperation.

At the end of the meeting the RA NA President invited his colleague on an official visit to Armenia.
