The NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport debated and endorsed the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen authored by the Government at the extraordinary sitting in the second reading on May 24.

It is proposed to clarify the grounds for deferring to students with primary or secondary professional education programmes without interruption on the basis of general education as well as basic education in the RA or foreign countries.

The key rapporteur, the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan informed that no proposals were submitted after the first reading.

According to her, the draft ensures students’ right to continuous education. The Minister stated that the law will be applied during the upcoming summer conscription.

The co-rapporteur, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Hakob Aslanyan highlighted the necessity of passing the law.
