Ararat Mirzoyan: The issue of RA borders and their recognition is the red line of Armenia
1 / 2

During the National Assembly-Government Q&A session, the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Lilit Stepanyan inquired from the Foreign Minister about the results of the meeting with the representative on Great Britain and the Northern Ireland in the Foreign Ministry and on what issues Armenia reached an agreement with Azerbaijan.

“There no secondary or unimportant issues in the text of the peace treaty: a part of them refers to vital issues, the other part – to derivative agreements. To reach mutual understanding with Azerbaijan on the second part easier. The sides are rather far from reaching agreement in the problems regarding the most vital issues.” Ararat Mirzoyan said.

The Foreign Minister noted that the results of the negotiations until today give basis for cautious optimism.

“The heads of Armenia and Azerbaijan with the presence of international players agreed that they reciprocally recognize each other’s territorial integrity,” Ararat Mirzoyan noted.

The Minister once again reaffirmed the words of the Prime Minister of the country that the issues of the borders of the Republic of Armenia and their recognition is the red line of Armenia.

“If issue of ethnic cleansing of the Nagorno Karabakh people threatens, it is not realistic that the Republic of Armenia will be able to finally regulate the relations with Azerbaijan and establish long-lasting peace in the South Caucasus,” the Minister added.
