A process began two years ago in order to be able to essentially improve the quality of the agrochemicals and pesticides being imported to the Republic of Armenia. The purpose of the order adopted by the Head of the Food Safety Inspectorate on November 28, 2022 is that we’ll check the additional parametres of the importing material during the import, which will allow having higher control towards the goods: the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said, answering the question of the deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Gegham Nazaryan about the clear mechanisms for controlling the quality of the agricultural food products. Emphasizing the addenda presented with the legislative package, the MP required about the regular checking, underlining that the genetically modified product decays the human health. “The control over the importing of agrochemicals and pesticides will be essentially strengthened. Besides, we initiated to create additional research capacities, and you see time and again that as a result of checking the activity of this or that entity is suspended, as their activity does not meet the requirements established with technical orders by the RA and the EEU,” Vahan Kerobyan added.

At June 13 regular sitting of the National Assembly the RA Minister of Economy presented for debate in the first reading the package of draft laws on Making Addenda to the Law on State Control of Food Safety and on Making Addenda to the Law on Phytosanitary.

“The legislative package that is proposed to debate in the 24-hour procedure aims at establishing additional regulations for managing with modern mechanisms the import procedure of agrochemicals and pesticides,” the key rapporteur underscored.

The adoption of the draft during the short period will allow to solve the emerged problems and boost the natural procedure of the agriculture development.

The orders of the state registration, re-registration and removing from registration, as well as the import of the pesticides and agrochemicals in the RA were established.

“The Ministry of Economy has already been working in Armenia for several years for forming an insurance market of agricultural crop,” the Minister of Economy said, answering the question of the deputy of Armenia Faction Garnik Danielyan.

According to him, the Government year by year increases the volumes of the ensuring areas, also adding the kinds of new crop.
