1 / 45

Education and innovation are important priorities for the Republic of Armenia. I want you to implement your ideas and plans right on time: The RA NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Davit Arakelyan said, welcoming the participants of the Summer School programme in Parliament. Davit Arakelyan congratulated the last year’s Summer School participants on their admission to higher educational institutions, noting that the RA Government spares no effort in raising the quality of education. The graduates of the previous year will support the organizational activities of this year’s Summer School on a voluntary basis.

Out of 600 applicants, 60 students of the RA high schools who passed the competition stage are taking part in the programme.

During the meeting with the participants, Davit Arakelyan underlined the importance of choosing a profession, expressing hope that within the framework of the programme, they will receive answers to many questions and gain universal knowledge.

On the first day of the course, the students met with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan. The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan and a member of the Committee Hasmik Hakobyan attended the meeting as well.

During the meeting with the students, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan referred to the expansion of non-formal educational programmes, the steps aimed at increasing the effectiveness of educational programmes in high schools, the process of recruiting teachers for certain subjects in the regions. She highlighted the preparation and showing of educational videos and other propaganda materials by the Ministry, which will be an additional incentive in the promotion and dissemination of education among young people. The Minister also spoke about the use of new teaching methods in high schools, in particular, personalized teaching.

The Minister answered many questions of the students regarding the sphere. Zhanna Andreasyan, emphasizing the role of the student council operating under the oversight of the Minister, noted. “We have a potential in the educational system that we are not using effectively, including the students. We tend to treat students as the primary beneficiary of the educational system, but you are the a participant in it. In fact, education can become much better with your help. I think that in the changes you see the problems and gaps that can be improved and reviewed the best.”

The second meeting of the day was with the MP Hasmik Hakobyan. The parliamentarian spoke about the involvement of women in politics, presented the history of the Armenian Parliament from 1918 to the present day, and touched upon the history of the construction of the building of the National Assembly.

The participants of the Summer School programme took a tour in Parliament, visited the museum and the library of the National Assembly, and were the NA session hall.

In the framework of the two-week full and meaningful course, the students will meet with the deputies, high-ranking officials, and the heads of the units that ensure the normal operation of the NA staff .
