Authorized body to monitor compliance process of approximation of RA legislation to EU
1 / 2

The purpose of the draft is to fulfill the obligations undertaken by our country under the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the RA and the EU, in particular, the fulfillment of the obligation to approximate the RA legislation to the EU legislation. The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Ara Mkrtchyan said this during the report of the draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Normative Legal Acts during the regular sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs held on September 4.

With the conviction of the representative of the Ministry, an international expert group worked on the draft law, and the experience of the countries that launched such mechanisms - Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia - was studied.

“We have chosen the most applicable and the best option for the RA, that is, when the body that develops the policy of the sector should come up with a legislative initiative, that is, propose amendments, by which the bills regulating the relevant relations of its sector should be brought closer to the EU legislation. Several technical amendments were made from the first to the second reading,” Ara Mkrtchyan said.

The deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Arusyak Julhakyan gave a related report. She reminded that the main aim of the draft is to appoint the authorized body responsible to monitor the accuracy of approximation of the RA legislation to the EU legislation.

The Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs endorsed the draft.
