1 / 8

On September 14, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan and the Head of Armenia-France Friendship Group Vladimir Vardanyan met with the delegation led by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of France Jean-Louis Bourlanges.

“France is our greatest friend and is next to Armenia in all difficult days,” Sargis Khandanyan said, welcoming the delegation in the RA National Assembly and thanked Jean-Louis Bourlanges for his pro-Armenian activities.

“The development of multi-lateral relations with France had always special importance on the agenda of Armenia’s foreign policy,” Vladimir Vardanyan said and added with joy that the cooperation with France began including new spheres. He mentioned that as Head of Friendship Group he is daily connected with his French colleagues, specifying the bilateral agenda of the activities.

Thanking Jean-Louis Bourlanges for carrying out activities in the adoption of the pro-Armenian resolutions in the Parliament of France, Vladimir Vardanyan asked him to continue the support in unblocking the Lachin Corridor within the framework of parliamentary diplomatic toolkit.

Jean-Louis Bourlanges said that it is a great honour for him to visit Armenia in these difficult days. “The current political situation allows to make as an imperative being consolidated with international colleagues and help Armenia to resist in these difficult times. Today, visiting Tsisternakaberd Memorial Complex, I took a note in the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in the Honourable Guests’ Book, noting that it is not enough remembering and praying, we shall take actions,” the Chairman of the NA Committee on Foreign Affairs of France said, adding that the issue of Armenia caused deep concerns in their Committee. They realize how extremely serious is the situation, in how hard, inhuman state the residents of Nagorno Karabakh under blockade appeared.

Sargis Khandanyan presented the security situation created in Armenia and around Armenia, the threats and challenges, the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno Karabakh.

Jean-Louis Bourlanges noted that after returning he will present the current situation, the seriousness of the moment and the acting priorities, underscoring that active work should be done for involving the European colleagues in those processes. He underlined the importance of continuity of the activities of the EU Civil Observation Mission. “We should fight, this is also our fight for values,” the Chairman of the NA Committee on Foreign Affairs of France concluded.
