Members of Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection meet with their Czech colleagues
1 / 13

On September 19, the members of the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection met with the members of the delegation led by the Chairperson of the Committee on Environment of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Yana Krutáková.

Before the discussion of the sectoral issues, Vahe Ghalumyan touched upon the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, noting that Azerbaijan, grossly violating the obligations assumed by the 2020 trilateral statement, has been blockaded the Lachin Corridor for a long time. As a result, around 120 thousand people are deprived of daily use products and food.

The Committee Chair also stated that since May 12, 2021, the armed forces of Azerbaijan, violating the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, illegally invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia. It was mentioned that Armenia is committed to its adopted policy aimed at establishing long-term and stable peace in the region, expecting the support of its international partners in this matter.

Regarding the discussion of the agenda items, the members of the Committee highlighted the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations with the Czech Republic, considering the format of parliamentary cooperation as an important platform in this matter.

The Armenian MPs expressed conviction that the visit of the Czech colleagues will promote the deepening and strengthening of cooperation. They inquired about the legislation and experience of the Czech Republic on a number of sectoral issues, in particular, they referred to the experience of the Czech Republic in the matter of waste collection and waste processing.

The Chairperson of the Committee on Environment of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament thanked for the warm reception and noted that they understand the difficult situation in which our region is due to the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh.

The Czech deputy touched upon the project implemented with the Armenian partners in the field of environmental protection, presented the experience of the Czech Republic in waste processing and a number of legislative regulations, expressing readiness to continue the cooperation of the sectoral committees.
