Addenda and Amendments being proposed to the law on Tourism debated

The proposing addenda and amendments will promote the protection of the citizens’ consumer rights, the tourism activity services and the specification of the demands being presented to the entities, the development of tourism in the communities, the proportional development of the economic, human resources: the RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs during the debate of the package of bills envisaging addenda and amendments to the Law on Tourism and the enclosed presented laws on September 27.

The Minister highlighted the persons rendering tourism services and the distinct differentiation of the services being rendered by them, the definition of the requirements and criteria, the provision of the activity in the legal field of the persons rendering touristic service, the clarification of the influences of the policy making bodies in the field of tourism, the introduction of control mechanisms and the provision of the quality complying with the international standards of the hotel services.

Vahan Kerobyan also touched upon the rendering of qualitative services and providing the information with the framework of their activity.

He also spoke about the issue of complying the standards of the tourist bus security to the international standards.

The Minister informed that to regulate the mentioned problems it is designed by the presented draft law to specify the conditions of providing tourism services and the control mechanisms, criteria with distinct requirements for the persons rendering tourist services are established, the framework of regulation in this sphere, the powers and the functions of the Government state authorized body are specified, a registration book of electronic and tourist resources of rendering tourist services is introduced.

Touching upon the improvement of the qualitative standards, Vahan Kerobyan noted that the draft law will introduce qualitative mechanisms corresponding to the international standards, the requirements being presented to the information tourist information centres will be specified. It is also designed by the draft to introduce a passenger transport qualitative system by tourist buses.

According to Vahan Kerobyan, the adoption of the draft law will promote the rise of the quality of rendering services in the tourism sphere.

The Deputy Head of Tourism Committee Susanna Hakobyan informed that during the elaboration of the draft law the international experience was studied.

The MPs asked questions on the draft law and made proposals.

The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan proposed to postpone the legislative package up to two months: work debate will be organized with the concerned sides.
