Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria expresses support to RA territorial integrity, sovereignty, considers unacceptable any violation against them

On November 14, the delegation led by the RA NA President Hakob Arshakyan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic Fayssal Almikdad.

At the meeting Hakob Arshakyan underscored the special role of the Armenian community of Syria as an unshakeable bridge of friendship between the two countries and peoples.

“Our permanent concern of the targeted state of the peaceful population, including the Armenians and other national minorities. In this aspect, I would like to express my gratitude to the authorities of Syria for the caring attitude towards the Armenian community, our cultural heritage,” the Deputy Speaker of Parliament highlighted.

Touching upon the international platforms, the NA Vice President noted that Armenia maintains its position by voting in favour of decisions and resolutions aimed at the strengthening of peace and security in the Middle East, as The Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons, The risk of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East.

Hakob Arshakyan evaluated the support of Syria in the organizations, where Armenia is not a member, and within the framework of which, Azerbaijan makes efforts carrying out anti-Armenian activities, false rhetoric misleading the international community - for giving negative picture towards Armenia and the Armenian people.

Reference was made to the military actions being continued in the Gaza Strip.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria in his turn expressed his support to the territorial integrity, sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia and considered unacceptable any violation against the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.

The Minister expressed his assistance to the Crossroads of Peace Project, the Armenian initiative of unblocking infrastructure, strictly denying any idea of extra-territorial corridor, which can put under question the territorial integrity of Armenia.

Fayssal Almikdad noted that Syria is ready to protect the interests of the Republic of Armenia in the international organizations, where Armenia is not a member.

The deputies Rustam Bakoyan, Shirak Torosyan and Aren Mkrtchyan took part in the meeting.
