Parliament debates issue of election of candidacies nominated for vacancies of CTR member

On December 5, at the NA regular sitting the parliament debated the issue of the election for the member of the Commission on Television and Radio (CTR).

The NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport proposed to the National Assembly in the position of the member of the Commission on Television and Radio the candidacy of Hasmik Hakobyan nominated by the RA NA Civil Contract Faction.

The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport Taguhi Ghazaryan, presenting the candidate’s biographical data, documented that she studied and graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University.

She defended PhD thesis. She is an author of books, numerous articles, essays. Hasmik Hakobyan is the Founding President of Granish Literary Community NGO.

According to the deputy, Hasmik Hakobyan will effectively work in the Commission on Television and Radio.

It was also noted that the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport debated and voted for Hasmik Hakobyan’s candidacy.

In her speech the candidate for the member of the Commission on Television and Radio Hasmik Hakobyan noted: Besides her professional activity, I pursued an inclusive goal – to raise the level of reading in our country, as a final result to have a reading, knowledge-based, debating, analyzing, tolerant society with critical way of thinking.” According to her, in having educated and tolerant society the educational system has a key role, particularly the school, television and radio.

The candidate thanked the NA Civil Contract Faction for nominating her as a candidate.

She also answered the MPs’ questions, which referred to the problems of the sphere.

During the exchange of ideas, the deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Garnik Danielyan presented her observations on television and radio.

The NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan touched upon the problem of broadcasting the Turkish radio companies voiced by the deputy on our territory of our country.

The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament documented that on the previous year the Government allocated 3 billion AMD for radio monitoring equipment. “Why is this done for, as the equipment necessary for

measuring the strength of radio frequencies, radio waves have already become obsolete, and were not corresponding with the international standards. We have made great investment and have obtained modern equipment,” the NA Vice President said.

The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, the member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport Hasmik Hakobyan presented the next candidate for the vacant position of the CTR member. The MP informed that Nune Hakhverdyan studied and graduated the Faculty of Art Studies at Yerevan State Arts and Theatre Institute. The candidate is a journalist, art critic and media-analyst.

In her speech Nune Hakhverdyan referred to speculation of a number of problems, considered unacceptable its fact of being opposition and pro-Government. She highlighted the feeling of being self-sufficient, which according to him, creates responsibility. Speaking about the authority of media, she noted: “In any strong state stable media field will be, if the media is self-sufficient structure, and is rather free from financial and political sympathies. Nune Hakhverdyan also mentioned that being a journalist, she understands the situation in the media field. The candidate answered the MPs’ questions.

During the exchange of ideas, the deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Lilit Galstyan considered important the women’s engagement in the Commission on Television and Radio. She also referred to other problems of the sphere.
