Adoption of initiative to ensure coordinated activity of preservation and protection of cultural heritage

The adoption of the initiative will ensure the coordinated activity of preservation and protection of cultural heritage, the development of new economic mechanisms in the field of culture, as well as the regulation of relations arising between legal entities and individuals.

According to the RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Alfred Kocharyan, in order to elaborate the initiative, the Ministry studied the legislative acts of Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and a number of other countries that are distinguished by their progress in museum work.

The Deputy Minister answered the deputies’ questions, which were related to the financial support of museums, the classification criteria, the implementation of control in the field and the professional qualities of the employees, the preservation of museum samples.

Alfred Kocharyan noted that no state financing programme is planned for the private museums.

The Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Taguhi Ghazaryan presented the endorsement of the Committee. According to her, an agreement was reached with the Ministry to improve the initiative from the first to the second reading by organizing work debates.

The Parliament debated the draft law on Museums and the proposed addenda to the Code on Administrative Offenses in the first reading at the NA sitting on January 15.
