“I would like to express my gratitude to the Parliament of Austria for pro-Armenian actions: for adopting balanced resolutions on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide on April 24, 2015, on the existing situation during the 44-day war in Nagorno Karabakh (NK) and for condemning the ethnic cleansing committed against the NK people in the Parliament of Austria on October 19, 2023,” the Head of the Friendship Group said.

Shirak Torosyan touched upon the security environment around our country and noted that despite the difficulties Armenia believes that peace and stability will be eventually established in the region, and for that purpose undertakes practical steps.

The members of the NA Friendship Group Armenia-Austria welcomed the guests, spoke about the necessity of the development of bilateral cooperation in different spheres. The MPs also presented about the forcibly deportation of the Armenians living through centuries in Nagorno Karabakh because of ethnic cleansing policy of Azerbaijan, highlighted their integration and support in Armenia. The issue of the organization of the return of the captives and the military-political leadership of Nagorno Karabakh was underlined.

“Hard times are for Armenia. It is important for us to see the general picture in your country, understand what support Armenia expects from Austria. We cooperate in the diplomatic, economic and educational spheres,” the Member of the Greens Faction of the National Council of Austria Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic noted, emphasizing the cooperation of the two countries also in terms of the development of democracy.
