Teachers and students of school participating in educational program Media Literacy and Protected Communities visit NA

On February 2, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan, the Deputy Chair of the Committee Taguhi Ghazaryan met with the teachers and students of Tavush and Gegharkunik marzes of the educational program Media Literacy and Protected Communities.

At the meeting the RA NA President Alen Simonyan talked with the guests.

In 4 Basic and High Schools of Tavush and Gegharkunik marzes/regions a class and clubs of media literacy opened, where the students completed courses on media literacy, checking fake news, civil education, development investigative thinking with alternative educational methods - watching films, playing games, etc.

The President of For Equal Rights NGO Gayane Abrahamyan presented the program implemented during the last one year.

Welcoming the guests, the NA President Alen Simonyan noted that he worked with Gayane Abrahamyan in the Session of the RA NA seventh convocation, and he is glad for this meeting. He underscored that it is important for the ruling party to communicate with the people. Alen Simonyan was interested in the existing problems and shortcomings.

Touching upon the issue concerning the name of the textbook of the Armenian History or History of Armenia, Alen Simonyan noted that it is very important to strengthen the idea of statehood from little age. “To our perception, during the Soviet period everything was done for removing the idea of statehood from the level of subconscious. Our wish is to highlight the state mentality, to strengthen the cornerstone of statehood. But we are ready also to listen to opinions,” the NA President said.

The participants of the meeting considered concerning the lack of the male pedagogues in schools, noting that they can have an important role in upbringing of teenage students.

Issues regarding to passing from school to higher educational institution, college and vocational school were also discussed.

The Committee Chair Sisak Gabrielyan expressed readiness to study in detail the raised problems and present them in relevant instances.
