On February 16, the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport convened a work debate, the agenda of which was the draft law on Museums authored by the Government and adopted in the first reading.
The responsible representatives of the republican, regional, community subordination, private museums, universities, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, the specialists in the field attended the debate.
Opening the debate, the Deputy Chair of the Committee Taguhi Ghazaryan stated that some articles regarding the issue of museum accreditation, museum education, and the article related to entrepreneurial activity have already been added to the draft. The rights and responsibilities of museum employees, changes in the management system have been clarified.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Alfred Kocharyan called on the participants of the debate to present the proposals and comments, which, if accepted, will be included in the draft.
A constructive debate was held, during which the responsible representatives of the Ministry gave clarifications.
The participants of the debate presented many proposals, remarks and concerns, pointed out the gaps in the draft, underscored the urgency of adopting a law regulating the sector.
Summarizing the debate, the Deputy Chair of the Committee Taguhi Ghazaryan thanked for the concerned debate and the valuable proposals.
The Committee is planning to debate the amended version of the draft law adopted in the first reading at the upcoming sitting.
