The development of relations with any country cannot be at the expense of independence, sovereignty and freedom of the Republic of Armenia: The Secretary of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction Artur Hovhannisyan said at the meeting held on March 13 with the 4th-year students of YSU Faculty of International Relations who are passing internship in the Parliament.
The future diplomats talked with the MP about the ways to solve the RA's security problems, the situation in the region, the development of relations with the neighboring countries, Armenia's membership in the CSTO and the EEU.
Artur Hovhannisyan highlighted the development of diplomatic and economic relations with the neighboring countries.
The MP also touched upon the Armenian-Russian relations. “The CSTO has always been our security guarantee according to the documents, but we record that the organization has not fulfilled its obligations stipulated in the Treaty and has not yet responded to the issue of recognizing the sovereign territory of Armenia. We will not sign any document until the sovereign territory of Armenia is recognized by the CSTO security structure,” Artur Hovhannisyan said, adding that this is their political position, which is in the interests of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the speaker, the development of relations with the West will create an opportunity for Armenia to enter a new economic market.
The Secretary of the Faction also referred to the positive aspects of the Peace Treaty, noting that it will bring some stabilization in the region.
“We are implementing a policy that is about the RA independence, development, citizens’ happiness, popularization and perpetuity of our state,” Artur Hovhannisyan mentioned at the end of the meeting.
