It is expected that as a result of the adoption of the legislative package legal bases will be created for the solution of the problems emerged in the legal practice, the prevention of violence in family and the fight against it, as well as for the implementation of the effective means of the protection and support of the persons subjected to violence. At April 8 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, the revised draft of the law with the attached legislative package on Prevention of Violence in Family, Protection of Persons Subjected to Domestic Violence and Restoration of Family Solidarity authored by the deputies of the NA Civil Contract Faction Zaruhi Batoyan, Sona Ghazaryan and Tsovinar Vardanyan.

As the key rapporteur Zaruhi Batoyan informed, after passing the package in the first reading a number of proposals were received from the Government and the deputies, the NA Armenia Faction, and part of them were accepted. The authors also initiated amendments, and among the amendments the title of the draft was changed - Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, Protection of Persons Subjected to Family and Domestic Violence and Restoration of Family Solidarity.

The term of entering into force the law has changed. It is designed that it will enter into force from July 1, 2024.

The RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan presented the positive opinion of the Government.

The Committee endorsed the legislative package. It is envisaged to debate during the NA upcoming regular sittings.
