On April 16, the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs convened an extraordinary sitting.

The draft law on Making Addendum to the law on Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia authored by the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Rustam Bakoyan was debated in the second reading. The author proposed to mark August 3 as a Memorial Day of the Sinjar Yazidis genocide victims in 2014.

Rustam Bakoyan considered marking August 3 as a Memorial Day and singling out it as an additional manifestation of solidarity towards Yazidis being national minority in the Republic of Armenia.

The draft was amended from the first to the second reading.

The initiative was approved by the Committee.
