Delegation of trade union representatives of Lithuanian state institutions visit Parliament

Diplomatic relations between Armenia and Lithuania are at a high level. The recently activated bilateral visits, which give new vigor to Armenia-Lithuania relations, are welcome. This was stated by the Chair of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan, welcoming the delegation of the representatives of trade unions of the state institutions of the Republic of Lithuania.

The meeting was held on April 19, in which the Committee members Zaruhi Batoyan, Mariam Poghosyan and Lilit Stepanyan also participated.

The Head of the delegation Rima Kiselene presented the general system, toolkits, and the legal contractual regulations of trade unions of the Lithuanian state institutions.

Speaking about the activity of the Committee, Heriknaz Tigranyan highlighted the role of trade unions in the regulation of both the practical and the legislative fields of the sector. The Committee Chair informed that the legislative package regarding trade unions is in the process of elaboration.

Issues related to the exchange of successful experience in the field, providing trade unions with appropriate toolkits to influence employers’ decisions, independent activities and financial independence of trade unions, accountability, protection of interests of trade union members were discussed.
