1 / 15

Our two Committees on the parliamentary platform serve as a very good example with their work: The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan said, welcoming the delegation led by the Chair of the Culture Committee of Parliament of Georgia Eliso Bolkvadze.

The meeting took place on May 20, in which the Deputy Chair of the Committee Taguhi Ghazaryan, the Committee members Hasmik Hakobyan, Hakob Aslanyan and Narek Babayan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia George Sharvashidze took part.

“Armenia is living one of the most important days of its sovereignty, and on these very days we implement a process, which is unprecedented since independence. We are hopeful that the process will reach to an end, and the beginning of the peace era will be laid in our region,” Sisak Gabrielyan said. He thanked his colleagues of Georgia for regularly supporting and advancing the agenda of peace in this process. The Committee Chair noted that Armenia follows with full attention the events going on in Georgia and expressed hope that the tense situation will be smoothed out, and Georgia will continue its democratic path.

“Armenia and Georgia are centuries-old friends, and they cooperate in many directions, On November 17, 2022 a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the two Committees of parliaments of Armenia and Georgia, and the cooperation goes on very effectively,” Eliso Bolkvadze said. She welcomed the meeting of the representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan held on May 10 in Kazakhstan and expressed hope that in the near future the peaceful coexistence will be possible. Touching upon the ongoing events in Georgia, the Committee Chair mentioned that Georgia still continues the struggle for its sovereignty and will do its best to preserve its independence. She highlighted the establishment of peace in the country and in the region.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia George Sharvashidze documented that the Armenian-Georgian relations are experiencing a new historical era, and the interaction is developing in a number of spheres.

The sides emphasized the relations with historical and brotherly basis established between the two countries, underscored the value of peace, as well as discussed the programmes implemented within the framework of the memorandum and to be implemented in the near future.
