Executive body proposes a new regulation to law on General Education
1 / 2

For the activities carried out within the framework of the General Education Programme, the state budget of every year provides appropriate funds. Taking into consideration this circumstance, in order to ensure the predictability of the state budget expenses, as well as to avoid the provision of additional expenses, it is proposed to approve the coefficients and norms of implementation of programmes and measures provided by the RA state budget in the field of public education, and the funding procedures, not by the order of the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, but by the relevant decision of the RA Government. The RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan stated this at the NA regular sitting.

It was noted that the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport approves a number of orders that lead to exceeding the amounts of budget allocations discussed and approved in the budget processes, creating fiscal risks and assuming additional new obligations for the state budget.

The MP Narek Babayan presented the endorsement of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport.

The proposed addendum and amendment to the Law on General Education was debated at the NA sitting on May 21.
