RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs: We have quite high performance, taking into consideration current year’s challenges

The RA Ministry of Internal Affairs had 10 programmes and 35 measures defined by law, 10 programmes and 38 measures were actually implemented. The annual plan of the Ministry was 93 billion 183 million AMD, then it was adjusted to 95 billion 739 million AMD and 94 billion 167 million AMD was actually implemented, which is 98.4% of the total budget: The RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan said about this.

The annual sectoral report on the execution of the RA 2023 state budget was debated at the joint sitting of the RA NA Standing Committees on Defense and Security and on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs on May 29.

“As of now, we have a fairly high performance, taking into consideration the challenges that exist in the current year,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Sargsyan said.

In October 2023, the Patrol Service was introduced in the republic, and in December, the Water Patrol Service was launched, which ensures the security of public order in the area of Lake Sevan and the lakeshore, and is especially focused on the prevention of illegal fishing. Along with the patrol service, the operational management center was also formed and implemented.

Arpine Sargsyan presented the works carried out in the direction of educational training in the system. It was noted that the concept of formation of the Police Guard was elaborated and approved by the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs. On the basis of the concept, a new draft law was elaborated, which passed international expertise. Attestation has also been implemented in both the police system and the rescue service.

The Disaster Risk Management Strategy for 2023-2030 and the action plan for its implementation in 2023-2026 were approved.

During the reporting period, an unprecedented large-scale command staff military training was conducted in the republic, in which multi-member international search and rescue teams, observers, international experts from Georgia, Cyprus, Greece, France, Montenegro and North Macedonia took part. The goal is to strengthen international cooperation in case of landlocked states and ensure faster partnership and response in case of any disaster.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs answered the MPs' questions, touching upon the possibility of eavesdropping as a serious tool for organizing operative work, the drug testing of police officers, the violence carried out by the police against the MP on May 28, the proceedings initiated in connection with the case, the positive records in the fight against crime and other issues.

At the joint sitting, issues regarding the defense, national security service, state security service, foreign intelligence sector of the annual report on the execution of the RA 2023 state budget were debated behind closed doors.
