Performance of State Budget for 2023 in the framework of EEU integration process debated

In 2023, within the framework of the EEU integration process the works done under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance, in general were aimed at the cooperation in purchases, macro-economic, tax, customs policy, as well as the accounting and audit activity spheres: The RA Minister of Finance Vahan Sirunyan said.

At June 4 joint sitting of Standing Committees on Regional and Eurasian Integration and on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs the annual report on RA State Budget Execution for 2023 was debated.

Vahan Sirunyan noted that during the financial period the work of approving the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Banking Guarantees being applied in the sphere of purchases were carried out with the participation of the representatives of the EEU member states. At the same time, the inter-state compliance works were done, as a result, it was approved by the RA National Assembly.

According to the key rapporteur, the Ministry continued showing active cooperation in the macro-economic and tax policy spheres. It was noted that in the customs policy sphere the work on modernizing the EEU Customs Code and complying with the sub-legislative legal acts continue.

According to the RA Deputy Minister of Finance, in 2023 within the framework of the EEU 73bln AMD were entered, and customs duty of 184bln AMD was issued.

The RA Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Kostanyan briefly presented the developments happened within the framework of the EEU. It was noted that 2 meetings of the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council, 3 regular and 1 extraordinary of the Inter-Governmental Council meetings, as well as 13 meetings of EEU Council were held.

Touching upon the analyses of the economic indicators recorded within the framework of the EEU membership during the year 2023, the RA Minister of Economy underscored that positive moves were registered in a number of spheres.

As Gevorg Paspoyan presented, according to the data of the RA Statistics Committee, in 2023 the RA-EEU trade turnover was 7bln 616mln USD, which compared with the previous year increased by 42.7%. In 2023, the export from Armenia to the EEU countries compared with the previous year increased by about 41%.

In January-December 2023, in the real part of economy, the volume of the net foreign investment flows was 353mln USD, the share of the EEU countries was 68.1mln USD out of it.

The rapporteurs answered the deputies’ questions regarding the implementation of the Agreements adopted within the framework of the EEU in 2023, the Crossroads of Peace Project and the operation of the Chabahar Port.
