On October 20 Mr. Tigran Torosyan, President of the National Assembly, received the delegation headed by Mr. Xu Jialu, Vice-President of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, which was in Armenia with an official visit. Mr. Zuo Xueliang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Armenia also participated in the meeting.

Welcoming the Vice-President of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Mr. Tigran Torosyan, President of the National Assembly, noted that there are good perspectives for the development of friendly close ties, as well as inter-parliamentary and inter-governmental relations between two countries. The NA President noted that the People’s Republic of China has achieved impressive successes in the developments of economy and society, and the experience of China is a good example of the progress. Mr. Torosyan touched upon the Armenian-Chinese effective cooperation in the international arena. It was noted that Armenia has always stood up for the United China, as being divided people, well comprehends such problems. The common positions of both countries also confirm that mutually accepted approach that the settlement of the conflicts should be found around the table of the negotiations in the modern world. The NA President also touched upon the inter-party ties, noting that he had been in China twice, heading the delegation of the Republican Party of Armenia. And he considers productive and mutually beneficial the developing cooperation between the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China and the Republican Party of Armenia. Mr. Torosyan invited the delegation of the Communist Party of China to visit Armenia for continuing that cooperation. He expressed confidence that Mr. Xu Jialu’s official visit will be favourable for the formation of the new stage of the development of the Armenian-Chinese relations.

Mr. Xu Jialu, Vice-President of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPS) of the People’s Republic of China, sending Mr. Wu Bangguo’s, NPC President, best regards to the NA President noted that the relations with Armenia always were warm and friendly, complete mutual understanding was displayed at all levels of inter-state relations. He introduced the present stage of the socio-political and economic developments of China noting that his country adopted the way of the harmonious society and the development of scientific engineering successes, which should favor to piece and stability as well as to the growth of the social welfare. He emphasized the importance of the cooperation with the Parliament, Government, entrepreneurs, NGOs and cultural workers of Armenia, which will create new perspectives of the development for two countries. Mr. Xu Jialu noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-Chinese relations would get a new impeturs of the development thanks to the forthcoming NA President’s official visit. That visit is expected in China, highlighting it in the context of the development of the Armenian-Chinese relations.The Vice- President of the National People’s Congress of China also touched upon the development of the inter-party ties accepting with pleasure the invitation of the visit directed to the Communist Party. He also thanked for the defence of the idea of the United China, which is especially important for his country. The effectiveness of working activities of the ambassadors, which promotes the development of the inter-state relations, was also mutually noted with praise.

During the meeting the other issues of mutual importance were also debated.

The Armenia-China Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly, headed by MP Razmik Martirosyan, met the delegation headed by Mr. Xu Jialu, Vice- President of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.

The Armenian and Chinese MPs discussed the issues related to the development of the parliamentary and economic relations of two countries.

Answering the question of the Armenian MPs, Mr. Xu Jialu explained the secret of the sustaianable and active development of China by the fact that the Chinese people did not imitate the political and economic structures neither of Post Soviet nor of European countries. China selected its own way of the development connected with its own history and traditions. According to him, Confucius’s ideology of “great love” towards surrounding world and each other is in the basis of it, the doctrine to live in harmonious and natural way.

The Chinese MPs, considering the direct contact and introduction the best way of experience exchange, proposed the Armenian MPs to visit China for having a realistic idea about the economic and political structures of their country.
