Training Course on theme The Integrity Building in Public Service begins in National Assembly
1 / 16

On June 19-21, by the support of the international partners financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) the Staff of the National Assembly organized a training course on the theme The Building Integrity in Public Service aimed at the improvement of the capacities of the NA Staff state servants.

Welcoming the participants, the NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Davit Arakelyan noted that one of the cornerstones of the reforms being made in the public service is the introduction of the integrity building system and its successful implementation.

“Such joint programs once again assure the purposefulness of the Staff of the National Assembly not only to strengthen the capacities of the Staff, but also to continue and more deepen the stable developing cooperation with the U.S. Agency for International Development. I am sure that other similar programs will be for us on the agenda, creating a platform of firm relations,” the NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General added.

“I am glad to be with you here, as you are the motivating force of the process for strengthening open and transparent workstyle and integrity building in the RA Government. The fact that the RA Government, the citizens, all of you steadfastly continue the commitment to the principles of democracy, despite the huge challenges facing you in recent years really inspires me. Corruption is the main flaw characteristic of non-democratic countries, and the RA citizens firmly refuse it during 2018 velvet revolution,” the Mission Director of USAID/Armenia John Allelo said in his speech. He noted that this program includes targeted support to the Corruption Prevention Commission and the Ministry of Justice, which have a key role on the frontline of the state sector in ensuring the integrity building.

Emphasizing the continuity of similar courses, the RA NA Deputy Chief of Staff Heghine Khachikyan noted that they will assist the state servants to have a clear idea on the sequence of their actions and peculiarities of legal regulations. According to her, it is important that the state servants will have an idea of clear behavior in terms of legal certainty and build their legal relations in the state service field.

The participants of the course discussed the typical rules of the public servants’ behavior, the components of integrity building, the legal peculiarities on the clash of interests, ‘gift,’ ‘intangible advantage,’ admissible and inadmissible gifts’ notions and other issues.
