On July 10, the proposed amendments and addenda to the Criminal Procedure Code were debated in the second reading in the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
In her related report, Lilit Minasyan proposed her colleagues to vote for it. She reminded that according to the draft, the money recovered by criminal proceedings caused to the community or the state will be transferred to the deposit account of the Prosecutor's Office, and in the case of criminal proceedings in courts, to the court deposit account. It was noted that there were no significant amendments in the draft after the first reading.
In the second reading, the proposed addendum to the Law on the RA Investigative Committee was also debated.
The Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Arsen Ayvazyan mentioned that technical amendments were made during the period from the first to the second readings, but there were no substantive amendments. The law will enter into force on the 10th day following its official publication.
According to the Secretary of Armenia Faction Artsvik Minasyan, there is a problem of conflict of interests, and the possibility of undermining the constitutional and legal requirement of an objective investigation is high.
In her related report, the Committee member Lilit Minasyan proposed her colleagues to vote for the initiative. The MP reminded that, according to the draft, the employees of the Forensic Science Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, moving to the Investigative Committee, will keep their salary, seniority and social guarantees.
The debated drafts were endorsed by the Committee.
