Czech Ambassador in the National Assembly

On June 18 Mr. Tigran Torosyan, President of the National Assembly received Mr. Ivan Jestrab, Ambassador of Czech Republic to Armenia.

Recording the development of the relations between the parliaments during the last period, Mr. Tigran Torosyan, President of the National Assembly, said that the experience of Czechia, as a member country of the European Union, is interesting and important for Armenia, taking into consideration that Armenia considers the European integration as priority of its foreign policy.

Mr. Ivan Jestrab, the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Armenia, who is the first time in Armenia, conveyed the President of the National Assembly his yet instant impressions, noting that he ahs already felt the necessity of coming to Yerevan frequently and also being in the marzes of Armenia. The Ambassador recorded the great interest of his country especially towards deepening the relations with Armenia, noting that since January 2009 Czechia for the first time will become presiding country of the European Union and now is being prepared for that difficult and honorable work, aiming to promote the development of the relations with eastern neighbours of the European Union, with the initiation of which Poland and Sweden had already acted. The Czech Republic is ready to promote the regional development and security protection of the South Caucasus. The Ambassador also touched upon the relations of economic and scientific cultural ties, which yet yield the relations having political high level and their development considered his own problem. In that aspect the Ambassador highlighted the opening of the Czech Embassy in Yerevan, which has only financial obstacles.

Conveying the best wishes of the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to the President of the National Assembly of Armenia Mr. Jestrab noted that he was already prepared for the visit in which will also participate his Czech colleagues (aiming to become familiarized with Armenian economic and investment probabilities) and highlighted it in the aspect of deepening inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations. Mr. Tigran Torosyan, President of the National Assembly. said that numerous issues were discussed during the meeting with Mr. Sobotka, when he was in Yerevan on the occasion of inauguration of the President of the Republic of Armenia. His visit is also highlighted in Armenia as a stimulus for the development of the relations in all spheres. Mr. Torosyan assured that the visit will be a successful one and will have its contribution to the peoples of the two countries and conveyed his best wishes to Mr. Přemysl Sobotka, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

During the meeting the sides also touched upon the necessity of cooperation in the international structures.
