Biography of the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Armen Ashotyan

Armen Ashotyan was born on July 25, 1975 in Yerevan.

In 1998 he graduated from General Medicine faculty of Yerevan Mkhitar Heratsi State Medical University (YSMU) with General Medicine specialization.

1999-2000 he studied at AIX-Marseilles II University (France).

In 2000 he graduated from the clinical residency training of YSMU with Forensic Medicine specialization.

In 2003 he defended his thesis and received his scientific degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences.

1999-2000 he worked as senior laboratory assistant at the Chair of Forensic Medicine of YSMU.

2002-2005 - he was an assistant to the Rector of YSMU.

In 2003 he worked as a lecturer at the Chair of Biochemistry of YSMU.

In 2006 he was docent at the Chair of Biochemistry of YSMU.

2005-2006 - advisor to the Rector of YSMU on a voluntary basis.

In 2005 he finished the Moscow School of Political Studies.

In 2007 he had training courses at Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations with the specialization Management of Global Processes.

2005-2007 he was a deputy in the NA (proportional system, Republican Party of Armenia/RPA). He was a member of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Health Care and Environment. He was a member of RPA faction.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional electoral system from the RPA. He is a member of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration. He is a member of RPA faction,

From 2002 he has been a member of RPA.

2003-2005 – head of RPA Youth organization.

From 2006 he has been a member of RPA board.

On September 8 he was elected Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

He is fluent in English, Russian and French.

He was awarded Garegin Nzhdeh medal of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

He is married and has a child.
