On September 3 Ms. Naira Zohrabyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly received the Head of the EU consulting group in Armenia, Mr. Rolf Bjork. Mr. Tatul Manaseryan, Adviser of the President of the National Assembly participated in the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Ms. Naira Zohrabyan emphasized the importance of Euro integration as a priority line of external policy of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the EU “Eastern Partnership” program. Ms. Naira Zohrabyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly, highlighted the work of the EU consultants in Armenia and expressed hope that a consultant of the EU will soon be appointed in the National Assembly.

Touching upon the works of the committee Ms. Zohrabyan noticed that the committee needs to have trained and professional experts and proposed to run training programs in Armenia within the framework of the EU project, being realized in Armenia, for the experts, which would make more efficient the process of harmonization of legislation of Armenia with European standards. She stressed that in particular Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan, highlights the rise of the professionalism in the staff of the National Assembly, and certain works are done in that direction.

Among all other projects that the committee intends to realize, it is foreseen within the framework of the project of “Open Doors” of the parliament to realize the event of “European Week in the Parliament,” which would promote the community to be fully presented for the European integration.

Distinct appointments were achieved for various projects.
