Euro Integration Activity Continues

On September 24, Ms. Naira Zohrabyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly, met with the Polish delegation, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Micholai Dovgilevich, State Secretary on European Integration.

Ms. Zohrabyan said that Armenian – Polish relations have rather dynamic developments and that Armenia is interested in developing further bilateral relations with Poland, strengthening cooperation in many areas, also activating the parliamentary cooperation. She gave her assurance that Euro integration of Armenia is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of our country, noting that Armenia really highlights the development of multi-relations with EU. Ms. Zohrabyan expressed the hope that Poland, as an EU member and initiator country of the “Eastern Partnership” programme, can have a great role in establishing relations among the member countries of “Eastern Partnership” program, which will create an opportunity for stable development in the region.

Mr. Micholai Dovgilevich said that he is in Armenia for developing the Armenian- Polish relations, aiming to design and develop a joint program. He said that the delegation had already met with the President of the Republic of Armenia and discussed the issue of having free trade agreement, which was endorsed by the President. He noted that there would be a need of harmonization of the Armenian and EU laws and in this the role of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia and in particular the role of the EU would be very great.

The sides also highlighted the establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of the member countries of - "EuroNest Partnership, which, by using parliamentary diplomacy resource will allow to solve many issues, related to many aspects of Euro integration.

Liberalization of visa regime, the Armenian-Turkish dialogue, Turkey's membership to the EU, and other issues, related to strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy and regional issues were also debated.
