On February 5 the Chairperson of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Ms. Naira Zohrabyan received the representative of the Women’s Lobby Campaign adjunct to the Council of Europe Mrs. Marsha Scott and Director of the British Council Office Director in Armenia Ms. Arevik Saribekyan.
Mrs. Zohrabyan informed the guests that the Committee was set up, having as a basis the European integration declared as priority in the foreign policy adopted by Armenia. It coordinates the parliamentary relations with the European Union, as well as the Council of Europe. The Committee is involved in complying the RA legislation with European standards.
Referring to the works being done in the direction of European integration Mrs. Zohrabyan highlighted the relations with the European Union, in particular, the works done of the Eastern Partnership on four platforms, where the Armenian Parliament had its serious participation. During this period, according to the Committee Chairperson, the parliament works by elaborating the statute of Euronest within the Eastern Partnership parliamentary format, as well as the package of the problems being discussed in Euronest. The first sitting is envisaged to convene in the second half of March. In the nearest future in the parliament the Armenian delegation of Euronest will be formed.
The Chairperson of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration also informed the guest that on May 9, Europe Day, will be held an open lesson in the general schools of the republic dedicated to spreading the European values in our country.
The sides agreed to cooperate more over the issues of general interest.
