On June 4 RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan participated in the opening of the jubilee exhibition dedicated to Yervand Kochar’s 110th anniversary. The Chairman of RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan and RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan also attended the opening ceremony. More than 120 works, sculpture, graphics, painting, spatial painting and others are presented at the exhibition.
We’ll note that Kochar is considered the founder of the spatial painting. This year will be the 50th anniversary of Yervand Kochar’s creation of the statue of David of Sasun, which became the symbol of Yerevan and Melancholy, as well as the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Yervand Kochar’s Museum.
At the exhibition, which was opened on June 4, besides the materials of the museum and works also from private collections are presented.
The Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan accompanied by Artak Davtyan and Hasmik Poghosyan walked around the exhibition, got acquainted with the presented works.
Kochar has been classified among the great painters with his art, which was created in 1923-1936 in Paris, by which the European vanguard and the further procedure of the world painting was conditioned. European art thought considered Kochar one of the pioneers, who during several years changed the understandings about painting and turned the world upside down…
The Armenian artist’s works were shown together the greatest masters Picasso, Braque, Arp, Brancusi, Lege, Kiriko and others.
His well-known works are ‘Ecstasy,’ ‘Calamity of War’ canvases, the series of graphic art dedicated to David of Sasun epos, ‘Eagle of Zvartnots,’ ‘Melancholy,’ ‘Muse of Cybernetics,’ ‘Vardan Mamikonian,’ ‘David of Sasun’ and other works.
The exhibition opened at the Painters’ Union will continue till June 20.
