On June 25 RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegation led by the Minister of Finance of the State of Kuwait Mustafa Jassem Al-Shamali.
Greeting the guests and highlighting the development of the Armenian-Kuwaiti relations, RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness on implementing the agreements reached during the official visit of RA President Serzh Sargsyan to Kuwait in November 2009. He expressed confidence that the Minister’s visit would open new opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation and welcomed the signing of the Encouragement of Investments and Mutual Defense agreement, which would boost the entry of Kuwaiti capital and would create favorable conditions in making investments in the spheres of economy for the businessmen of the two countries. In this context Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the holding of business forums and the businessmen’s contacts. Touching upon the necessity of the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, which would also promote the activation of cooperation in all spheres, the NA President noted that an agreement on cooperation was signed between the two countries, which was a good opportunity for deepening the parliamentary cooperation. Parliamentary friendship groups function in the parliaments of the two countries. Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the cooperation in international structures, as well as the mutual visits of delegations, which give opportunity on the spot to get familiarized with each other's problems and possibilities.
Thanking the NA President for reception and conveying the warm greetings of the President of the Kuwaiti Parliament the Minister of Finance of Kuwait highly assessed the development of cooperation of the two countries. In the Minister’s conviction, the deepening of the inter-parliamentary cooperation will essentially promote and boost the activation of bilateral relations in all directions. In his word, the political positions of the two countries coincide, and the two countries strive for the establishment and strengthening of peace and stability. Mr. Mustafa Jassem Al-Shamali noted that Kuwait was concerned about developing the trade-economic and scientific-cultural relations with Armenia.
In the course of the meeting the sides touched upon the regional problems, the opportunities of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations, Karabakh problem, expressing conviction that in the 21st century the settlement of the conflicts through peaceful way, by negotiations has no alternative and the use of force and the bellicose statements cannot promote the solution of the problems.
