During his official visit to Lebanon in April of this year RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan got acquainted with the Artistic Director of Vahram Papazian Theatrical Group Trdat Avedikian and members of the theatrical group.Trdat Avedikian had informed Hovik Abrahamyan that they were going to have a tour in Yerevan. RA National Assembly Speaker has repeatedly noted that the population of the marzes also should make participate in theatrical, and in general, cultural life. During the above-mentioned meeting adhering to that idea, Hovik Abrahamyan invited to have performances also out of the capital, in particular in Artashat, the theatre of which had rather busy life.

And, according to agreement, on July 8 Vahram Papazian Theatrical Group of Beirut played on the stage of Artashat Amo Kharazian State Drama Theater, Hakob Paronian’s comedy The Flatterer staged by Yervand Ghazanchyan. RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan also saw the performance. As Yervand Ghazancyan noted that The Oriental Dentist comedy is staged about 10 years at H. Paronian State Musical Comedy Theatre sponsored by Hovik Abrahamyan. By now Hovik Abrahamyan is the only state figure, who received Artavazd prize of RA Theatrical Figures’ Union for careful attitude towards theatre. “It is easy to be master, but nobody thinks that first of all one must be a servant, then master. If you want to be master, you must be a big servant. That kind of man is Mr. Abrahamyan,” Yervand Ghazanchian.

The Artistic Director of Vahram Papazian Theatrical Group Trdat Avedikian expressed his gratitude to RA National Assembly Speaker for the invitation. “We are grateful that he gave this opportunity to us. Thanks to him we are in Artashat.” The Artistic Director of the Theatrical Group gave a souvenir to RA National Assembly Speaker for careful attitude towards culture.

In 1997 the building of Artashat theatre was repaired by the Hovik Abrahamyan’s sponsorship. “Our close relation with this theatre continues,” the Speaker of the National Assembly said in his word. “We still have things to do in this theatre. The hall still needs repairing.” The Head of the Parliament promised to solve that problem. “I don’t forget you any moment, dear residents of Artashat, and the marz. Every problem concerning Artashat and the marz  is at the center of my attention, as I am a deputy elected from here. We are obliged to keep our relation with people.”

Touching upon the Lebanese Armenians (we’ll remind that Vahram Papazian Theatrical Group represents Beirut), the NA Speaker noted that during his visit to Lebanon meeting the President of that country, the Head of Parliament, Prime Minister they were all pleased with our compatriots. “It was a big honour for me that the authorities would treat the authorities of Lebanon with much respect,” Hovik Abrahamyan said. The NA Speaker was very much impressed by patriotic feelings of the Lebanese Armenians, to which he related to especially during his visit in Aynchar.

In the packed hall the spectator received with warmth and inspiration Yervand Ghazanchian’s work and the actors’play.
