On October 21 RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland.

Greeting the CoE Secretary General Hovik Abrahamyan highly assessed his visit to Armenia and his participation in the Forum For the Future of Democracy of the Council of Europe. The NA President stressed that the integration into European family was one of the political priorities of Armenia, and our country consistently continued the reforms aimed at strengthening of democracy.

Mr Jagland emphasized Armenia’s role in the Council of Europe and the work of the delegation of the National Assembly in PACE, noting that the Council of Europe attentively followed the ongoing developments in Armenia and the process of reforms. He highly assessed the policy pursued by NA President and the activity of the parliament.

During the meeting the parties touched upon the amendments of RA Electoral Code, the Armenian-Turkish relations and other issues of bilateral interest.
