The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Territorial Management and Local Self-Government on March 31 organized parliamentary hearings on the theme Open Air Trade in the City Communities.
Deputies, representatives of Yerevan Municipality, ministries, members of the NGOs, journalists and citizens being involved in the open air trade took part in the disccussion.
Opening the hearings the Committee Chairman Hovhannes Margaryan said that the Committee initiated parliamentary hearings in order to hear different opinions and find solutions for the issue.
The Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan submitted the views of Yerevan Municipality on the theme.
According to Kamo Areyan, prohibiting the open-air trade the municipality has not deprived the citizens from the possibility of working. They have proposed 8 private markets operating in Yerevan.
The citizens being involved in open-air trade proposed to create small pavilions for their work.
In his concluding speech the Deputry Mayor of Yerevan touched upon the speeches and gave clarifications. He noted that a number of programmes and legislative initiatives were worked out to solve the problem.
