The third Children-Youth Republican Recitation Contest-Festival being held within the Open Door programme under the patronage of RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan this time is dedicated to the 95^th anniversary of the Armenian acclaimed poet Hovhannes Shiraz.

The contest-festival, which has begun from March 5 of this year, will be held in RA marzes, Yerevan, Artsakh and Javakhk. RA Ministry of Territorial Administration also supports the conduct of the contest-festival.

On April 27 the provincial regular second phase of the Children-Youth Republican Recitation Contest-Festival was held in Hovhannes Shiraz House-Museum, where 46 junior reciters, who were elected from 30 villages and 15 cities of Shirak Marz took part. To recap, 2500 students participated at the selection phase of the contest-festival only from Shirak.

Before turning to the selection phase the participants of the contest-festival, their teachers and parents, the jury members, the representatives of the provincial and city authorities, laid flowers at the monument being in the city park of the acclaimed poet and paid tribute to his memory.

The jury member, Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor Samvel Muradyan presented the poet’s personal life and creative path, his national identity activity and literary works to those present.

Then those present admired Hovhannes Shiraz’s wonderful works being recited by 46 participants of the contest-festival .

The participants competed in two age groups. 33 children competed in the first, 11-14 age group, three of them overcame this phase of the contest. Three more children passed the next phase in the second, 15-17 age group. The participants, who won in the provincial second phase, will take part in the contest last, third phase.
