On April 10 Hovik Abrahamyan, the RA National Assembly President, received Wilfried Martens, the President of the European People’s Party (EPP). Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Armenia actively cooperates with European structures, and the integration into European family is one of the foreign political priorities of our country. RA NA President highlighted the establishment of the EURONEST PA as a structure, in the constituent meeting of which the parliamentary delegation led by him took part recently.

Wilfried Martens thanked for reception and expressed conviction that we should reach the membership of the parties in the European People’s Party, which presented their requests: the RPA, PAP, Country of Law and Heritage parties. He stressed the visits of the representatives of the European People’s Party to Armenia recently, underlining, in particular, the positive impressions received by Khayim Mayor Oreja, the Vice President of the European People’s Party from the meetings in the parliament.

Hovik Abrahamyan noted that they would like to activate the cooperation with the European People’s Party, and his support in the international institutions is also expected. RA NA President emphasized the cooperation with the European Parliament, saying that visits of the deputies from that European institution to Armenia were organized, which would help to have real and objective picture on the region. And during these days the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, who is also member of the presidency of the European People’s Party, will visit to Armenia.

The interlocutors also touched upon the ongoing reforms in Armenia, the regional problems, as well as other issues of bilateral interest.
