On May 11 RA NA President received the Special Representative of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President on Migration, member of the Parliament of the Netherlands Kathleen Ferrier.

Welcoming the guest the NA President highly assessed the role of OSCE PA in the process of the development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, expressing conviction that the parliamentary diplomacy had assumed an important role in the modern structure of the international relations. Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Armenia greatly highlighted the cooperation with the OSCE, as well as the support of the organization in the process of the ongoing democratic reforms in our country. According to the NA President, the European direction is one of Armenia’s foreign policy priorities and in different spheres reforms are consistently implemented aimed at the enhancement of democracy in our country.

Mrs Kathleen Ferrier also highly assessed the level of cooperation between the OSCE PA and the National Assembly of Armenia. She highlighted the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia. She noted that her arrival in Armenia had an aim to study the migration processes and she would submit a report on the works being done in Armenia in the sphere of solution of migration problems at OSCE PA annual session to be held in Belgrade in July.

The President of the Parliament noted that the National Assembly highlighted the effective cooperation with the OSCE Yerevan Office in different directions, including the issue of complying the legislation with European standards.

The sides also touched upon the regional problems. Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that for Armenia the only acceptable format of the NK conflict settlement was the OSCE Minsk Group.

At the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were discussed.
