On June 6 Vahan Hovhannisyan, the Head of the NA ARF faction, held a press conference in order to sum up the activities of the ARF faction in the NA Spring Session.
Vahan Hovhannisyan touched upon a number of initiatives submitted by the ARF faction during the Spring session, among which were the draft law “On Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Electoral Code”, the proposal on creating a NA Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee on the RA Gas Supply System, the draft law “On Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Law “On Consumer’s Minimum Basket and Consumer’s Minimum Budget” and a number of issues. According to him, although many proposals presented by the ARF faction had not been accepted during the debate on the Electoral Code, however they succeeded to make positive reforms, for example, from now on after the election “the number of the election participants shall be fixed”. Despite the fact that they failed to create an NA Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee on the RA Gas Supply System, the Head of the ARF faction considered a big success the fact that state power conceded to creating a working group.
Mr Hovhannisyan highlighted the draft law submitted by Ruzan Arakelyan, the member of their faction, on more easily and freely organizing the education for the rural population of contiguous, high mountainous villages.
Touching upon the political dialogue he noted that they always had dialogues within the coalition and out of it, as “Dialogue is a work style, but not a goal.” By his convictions, as a result of that dialogue, the reforms were made in the Electoral Code.
Vahan Hovhannisyan welcomed the dialogue between the ANC and state power, underlining that by now they had one ideological rival: the Government, and ideological rivals multiply by dialogue. According to the Head of the ARF faction, the negotiations with the ANC should not be perceived as negotiation of the whole society with state power because a big mass of our people has not voted for anybody, including the ANC.
Vahan Hovhannisyan answered also the questions of media representatives.
