On February 2 the press conference of the Speaker of the Youth Parliament Karlen Khachatryan and CoE member Armenak Harutyunyan took place in the RA National Assembly.

Karlen Khachatryan, Speaker of the Youth Parliament, said that on January 22-28 they had been in Strasbourg and had taken part in the seminar-forum of the Youth parliamentarians and the youth leaders of the CIS countries. The main goal of the seminar was the joint meeting of the representatives of the youth parliaments of the CIS countries, during which issues concerning the youth policy being pursued in the CIS countries. The young people have got acquainted with each other’s experience, existing problems, came up with new ideas and initiatives. In particular, it was decided to create Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries. A coordination group have already been formed, the representatives of which are from the CIS five countries, including Armenia.

A schedule has been made: it is designed that the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries will held its first sitting in the coming September-October.

Young parliamentarians Karlen Khachatryan and Armenak Harutyunyan have also met Jean-Claude Mignon, PACE newly elected President, who expressed wish to support the creation of the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

The participants of the press conference also answered the journalists’ questions.
