On February 13 the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the Republic of Armenia (RA) and the Republic of Belarus (RB), led by Hrayr Karapetyan, Co-Chair of the Committee, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs and Viktor Guminsky, Co-Chair of the Committee, Deputy Speaker of the RB NA House of Representatives met to discuss one of the most important agenda items of the sitting, a number of items concerning the energy sphere, to be held on the same day.
The Co-Chair of the Committee, highly appreciating the current level of the inner-state and inter-parliamentary relations of the two countries, expressed readiness to make the cooperation more effective, using the possibilities of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee.
At the request of Viktor Guminsky, Co-Chair of the Belarus side, the parliamentarians introduced the guests Armenia’s achievements and experience in the sphere of the atomic energy, the reforms and programmes being made in this sphere.
Aram Gevorgyan, Head of the Atomic Energy Department of the RA Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, and Gagik Markosyan, General Director of the Armenian Nuclear Plant, attending the meeting, presented the current level of the technical possibilities of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, the investment and technical re-equipment policy implemented for security, the procedure of the programme of the construction of the new nuclear power block, emphasizing the cooperation and the need of preserving security means with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
At the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
