On March 6 the RA Parliamentary delegation led by the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, met the President of the Lithuanian Seimas Irena Degutienė in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania . Gagik Melikyan, Secretary of the NA RPA faction, and Ara Nranyan, member of the ARF faction, are in the delegation. The parties emphasized the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

In his talk with the President of the Lithuanian Seimas E. Sharmazanov congratulated her on the restoration of independence of the Republic of Lithuania on March 11. The Lithuanian side has highlighted the electoral processes being democratic in Armenia, and the Armenian delegation, in its turn, has noted that Armenia is resolute to hold free, fair parliamentary elections complying with democratic standards on May 6.

The parties have also discussed issues relating to Armenia’s European Integration. The Lithuanian side, as an EU member country, has expressed willingness to support Armenia in compliance with European standards. The parliamentarians also have discussed the current phase of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. The NA Deputy Speaker has reaffirmed the conflict settlement based on the known principles and added that the NK conflict settlement should be held within the OSCE Minsk Group. “The international recognition of Artsakh has no alternative,” Eduard Sharmazanov concluded.
