On March 23 the RA National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Tengiz Sharmanashvili and Chief Adviser of the Embassy Georgy Saganelidze.
Highly appreciating the current level of the Armenian-Georgian relations at the same time both sides expressed conviction that big opportunities and perspectives of the development of cooperation still exist in different spheres, which should be called into life for the benefit of two countries. In the course of the meeting issues pertaining to the activation of inter-parliamentary relations, the activity of the Inter-parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and Georgian Parliament that restarted the works after an interval, development of the economic and cultural ties were also discussed.
At the ambassador’s request the NA Deputy Speaker also touched upon the upcoming parliamentary elections, introduced the political atmosphere of the pre-electoral period, the parties and associations that presented bid for elections. In Sharmazanov’s word, the authorities are inclined resolute to hold elections at high level, realizing well that it will be the real path of reinforcement of democracy and comprehensive development of the country. He ensured that the most important problems will be following the legal will of the people and consolidating the society around the state and national goals through democratic elections.
During the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
