Delegation of the RF Federal Council Visits the Parliament

On May 21 Hrayr Karapetyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs and Artak Davtyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Youth and Sport met with the members of the delegation of the Russian Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Committee.

Head of the delegation Nikolay Fedoryak said that the goal of the visit was the monitoring of the activity and conditions of the Russian military bases located outside the Republic of Russia, the discussion of the financial issues for improving the legislative concerning the defense. The delegation was also interested in strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, in particular, activation of contacts in the spheres of defense and security.

Stressing the warm and friendly attitude of the Armenian people toward the Russians, Artak Davtyan and Hrayr Karapetyan documented that the majority had stood up for the ratification of the military and political agreement between Russia and Armenia as mutually beneficial one. According to the interlocutors, though the inter-parliamentary relations are at high level, there is still huge potential of boosting the cooperation. To the delegation members’ conviction, the mutual visits and cooperation within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will give a new impetus to those relations.

In the course of the other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
