Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the RF Federal Council of the Federal Assembly and the delegation led by her, accompanied by the RA NA Vice President on July visited Tsitsernakaberd and laid flowers at the monument of 1915 Armenian Genocide victims, paid tribute in silence the memory of one and a half million innocent victims.

The Head and the members of the delegation have been in the Armenian Genocide Museum, got acquainted with the documents ensuring the Armenian Genocide. Valentina Matviyenko took notes in the Commemoration Book. The Speaker of the RF Federal Council of the Federal Assembly and the delegation led by her, as a memory have been taken pictures near the fir-tree planted by Valentina Matviyenko years ago in the "Memory Alley."

Valentina Matviyenko in her talk with the journalists noted: "The Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkey is the biggest crime against all humanity: still 1915 Russia has qualified in this way that crime.

That is the tragic page of the history of one of the ancient Christian peoples. Millions of innocent people were killed. Russia gave asylum to thousands of Armenians in its country, helped Armenia.

I think that such crimes, as many years and centuries pass, we cannot forget not to be repeated. Such assessments and qualifications to the crimes against humanity should be given, to which they are worth, especially in our days, when they wish to falsify and distort. This is impermissible. The Genocide is Genocide. We should keep the bright memory of those who were killed. And we should give as granted to Armenia and the Armenian people that have built this memorial complex eternalizing the memory of the Genocide victims. As the tragedy is remembered, as the victims’ memory remains brighter, such tragedies I am sure won’t be repeated."
