On November 16 the members of the Armenia-Uruguay Friendship Group and the representatives of the factions met with Jorge Orrico, President of the House of Representatives of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and the Delegation led by him.

The Head of the Armenia-Uruguay Friendship Group Vahan Hovhannisyan said that, taking into account the importance of the development of the Armenia-Uruguay economic relations and the necessity of creating Trade-Industrial Chamber discussed during the meetings with the RA Prime Minister and Foreign Minister businessmen were also invited at the meeting.

Jorge Orrico, President of the House of Representatives of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, presented the geographical, historical, political and economic peculiarities of Uruguay, noting that among the priorities of the development of his country the political, economic and social stability occupy a special place for being open to the world, consistent policy and protection of human rights for creating a favourable field for investments. According to Jorge Orrico, the productiveness of the policy adopted by Uruguay and the successes recorded in different spheres are conditioned by the continuous improvement of the legislative field and the investment of distinct mechanisms of their use. Being one of the smallest Latin American countries and having 3.3mln population Uruguay registered big successes in different spheres of economy, has established trade relations with 120 countries of the world and genuinely is considered the most democratic country of the South America. According to the President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay, in the spheres of democracy and protection of human rights the evidence of the recorded successes is also the fact that Uruguay has been the first to recognize the Armenian Genocide and to condemn it. This witnesses also the fact that the human rights are more highly classified for Uruguay that the economic interests.

Then the businessmen of Armenia and Uruguay presented the spheres and investment possible directions of their activities. In particular, the possibilities of cooperation in the spheres of pharmacy, agro-industry, tourism, production of construction materials, high technologies and scientific field, as well as the perspectives of founding joint ventures were discussed.

The Head of the Armenia-Uruguay Friendship Group Vahan Hovhannisyan proposed to organize meetings in more extended staff members for the businessmen, discuss all the investment possibilities and undertake realistic and practical steps.
